When did you join Greenisland Golf Club?26 years ago.

What attracted you to join Greenisland?
When I got married, my husband John was already playing golf and I fancied learning more about this wonderful game. Social side is great with living so nearby.

Have you seen much change with the course or the club during your time here?
Yes the course has matured a lot with more trees and a new 125 bridge now being built. It is in great condition and the clubhouse has a new bar area and dining room refurbished.

What is your favourite hole on the course and why?
My favourite hole is the 3rd. I seem to play it well most times and it’s nice to walk down the fairway past your own house.

What is your least favourite hole on the course and why?
My least favourite hole is the 8th as I seem to have a mental block and find it difficult to reach the green. I usually end up in the garden below a tree or tight to the wall leaving myself with a difficult or no shot.

What is your favourite club in your bag?
My little pinkie rescue club.

Have you ever had a hole in one?
No but I will keep trying

Who is your favourite professional golfer and why?
Rory McIlroy - a very nice lad- so proud from Ireland and a very talented golfer. A credit to our country and golf.

Who is your ideal four ball?
My ideal four ball would be Rory McIlroy, Darren Clarke , Graeme McDowell- all local and very successful golfers.

What is the best course you have played?
Galgorm Golf Club

Sauvignon white wine.

Do you have any pets?
Yes, a border collie dog called Tess, our wee baby.

The course improves year on year; new signage and our, soon to be completed, new penalty area at the 9/18th holes are the latest enhancements. Externally, in the summer months, we can appreciate a roof patio and floral displays, while internal alterations and décor help the ambience. I really appreciate the purchase of buggies for the club as it allows me to continue playing golf in Greenisland.

Do you have any pets?
Not anymore.

Winning the Victory Cup in my rookie year. Also, winning the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Goblet in the 2002 Golden Jubilee year.

When did you join Greenisland Golf Club?

1997

What attracted you to join Greenisland?
I lived a few doors from it . My late father-in-law golfed here and it seemed a fun thing to do when i decided to job-share at work.We had a family membership at that stage.

What is your handicap now?

Have you seen much change with the course or the club during your time here?
The course has changed . Some positive things like much better drainage. Winter golf used to mean hunting for embedded balls. Some trees have been thinned or felled which helps me. Personally i think the club is a lot more relaxed and welcoming. Maybe thats just a sign of me being here a long time.

What is your favourite hole on the course and why?
Favourite hole....well that all depends. On a bad day its the 18th as the torture is over for another week. Or if i happen to have a better day i equally love the view and the possibility of a long drive from the teebox of the 2nd or the 18th.

What is your favourite club in your bag?
Favourite club is my sandwedge. Not for bunkers but to try for a high shot onto the green.          Hole in one. Well actually yes when i was atotal beginner and was playing at Blackwoods. A par 3 course.

Who is your favourite professional golfer and why?
Well of course it has to be Rory as a local lad. He appears to remain humble.

What is the best course you have played?
I dont venture far to play. I am hoping ,though, to try other courses this Summer for East Antrim League.

What is your favourite tipple?
My home-made rhubarb and Ginger gin.
I cant help showing-off!

Do you have any pets?
No pets. We had a few rabbits and guinea pigs when our kids were little but none survived!!Once Chris brought the school hamster home for the weekend. We were out furniture shopping and came back to a crushed pet. It managed to get under a chest of drawers which then fell on top of it.. Babysitter had it in a bag on the line for us when we got home. Enough said....

What is your vision for Greenisland Golf Club?
I hope the club continues to grow numerically and in its openness to all who come through its doors.
